This reviews covers I-64 east from Richmond to the Hampton Roads region. The major complaint about I-64 through southeast Virginia is the lack of a third travel lane in each direction between Richmond and Newport News. The congestion is particularly noticeable on Friday afternoons, and such congestion compromises safety. The good news is that the Virginia DOT is seriously studying this issue, but this should have been done 20 years ago.

From Newport News on eastward, I-64 moves quite well, and the addition of HOV lanes helps congestion through the area.
