It is not all that long, but the Bethpage Parkway is unique among Long Island parkways in that it is the only controlled-access "super-2" road. The parkway is virtually unchanged from its original 1936 construction. The lack of lights and relatively high speed limit (55 MPH) make it somewhat unsafe, but the close proximity of the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway (NY 135) keeps average traffic counts down.
