SAFETY CONGESTION PAVEMENT CONDITION CLARITY OF SIGNING AESTHETICS

NY 135 is the only Long Island-area highway built like a true interstate highway, and if the LI Sound Bridge is ever completed, it should be the southern arm of the NYS Thruway. The exits are spaced safely, the lanes are wide, and the acceleration/deceleration lanes are good compared to area highways, though the lack of lighting brings it down.
It is very bland looking, like an interstate. The pavement is in good condition; you can set your cruise control at 75 and relax while driving smoothly.

SAFETY CONGESTION PAVEMENT CONDITION CLARITY OF SIGNING AESTHETICS

Built as part of the "road to Rye," the six-lane Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway usually handles its traffic load without much difficulty. It is a safe road, and the flow of traffic usually moves at 55 MPH or better.
However, the lack of lighting is something that must be considered. The aesthetics can be described best as "suburban residential," in that there is not much more than a sea of single-family houses.
